Jacob Richard Kosorok – “Jake” or “Jake the Dog”

Jake started his SAR career when he was 9 months old. He certified in airscent, cross trained in water and HRD, and fielded for over 6 years with LCSAR and SARDOC. He is fondly referred to as “Jake the dog” because of human teammates with the same name. Jake has also been called “the total package” and “a cool dude” because of his personality, many interests, and abilities. His handler, Kathy Kosorok, is especially proud of Jake’s work as a back-up dog to confirm the location of a drowning victim at Eleven Mile Reservoir, his determination and perseverance during the McManus missions, and the information he provided on the Jessica Ridgeway case. His search days aren’t completely over; just the other day he had a successful find on a mission to find a relative’s smart phone that was lost during a five mile horseback ride along ditch trails and through fields in Erie. Jake’s next call to serve will be as a therapy dog. He appreciates all of his mentors throughout the years and will miss seeing his SAR teammates on a regular basis, but will hold them in his heart forever.
