Loki

7/30/00-9/2012

Certified in Air Scent

LokiLoki1Loki was one of SARDOC’s veteran airscent dogs. In 2004 he certified in both wilderness airscent, and cross certified in Seattle, WA with FEMA as a USAR Disaster Dog. He responded to numerous wilderness callouts in and around Colorado with SARDOC and was deployed to Hurricane Katrina, a building explosion in Pueblo, and Hurricane Gustov as a disaster dog. He was awarded the “Canine Hero of the Year in 2009” by the Colorado AVMA for his ongoing efforts. In December of 2010 he retired from disaster work but continued to enjoy working in the wilderness,  giving educational demonstrations, and riding in his motorcycle sidecar. Even in his senior years he managed to live up to his mischievous namesake from time to time and maintained his penchant for a well-kicked pine cone.
